For more information, visit www.hbcumedia.org.Wanda Josey still remembers a stage piled high with toys at the Seville Theatre in 1933, something even now she recalls as astonishing to the 6-year-old girl she was then. Josey was a first-grade student at the Robert E. Lee School in Owensboro, which is now Links of London Back to School Chubby Red Pencil Charm Elizabeth Munday Senior Center on West Second Street. She recalls the day that she and her fellow students were driven to the theater and still has fond memories of the doll she was given, which would receive a great deal of love in the years to come. Born right before the beginning of the Great Depression, she recalls she had a good life. Times were tough for many, but she said her family and her life then were happy. "I didn't know I was poor," Josey said. "We never went hungry." But hard times Links of London Bee Charm there for many families and Josey's was one of them apparently.
