Links of London Sale although

At The Melting Pot, fondue becomes a memorable four-course Links of London Sale experience where patrons can dip into something different. Guests enjoy a choice of fondue cooking styles and a variety of unique entrees combined with dipping sauces. Especially Martin, who was always helping out with a smile, fixing this and fixing that, and running errands into town behind the wheel of his prized possession, a 1939 Chevy Coupe. On a tricky walk to school one day, he fixed his sister's flapping shoe by deftly slipping a wad of chewing gum into the sole.Maybe you're sneaking a peek at the newspaper this morning with a nice, quiet cup of coffee before the kids thunder downstairs to tear into Santa's offerings.Or maybe it's the end of the day, and you've poured yourself a nice drink to chase the aspirin while you tightrope-walk around the Yuletide aftermath that used to be your living Links of London Bracelets.Either way, it seems as good a time as any to send out a jinglereminder as to what Christmas is really supposed to be about. It comes courtesy of Bob Martin. He was born on this day 101 years ago, and was happily looking forward to that milestone earlier this week at Golden LivingCenter, in Morgantown, a nursing facility on Van Voorhis Road that he's called home for the past nine years. You already know what Christmas isn't about. It's not about greeting cards, with their squirmy pseudo-sentiments that you'd never actually say out loud.Nor is it about that syrupy song with the lyrics jiggling in your head like a bowlful of jelly -- since you've heard it at every other traffic light for the past month.Though the gift-wrap carnage in your house might suggest otherwise, the day isn't really Links of London I Charm presents, either -- although there is the matter of that gift you didn't get, counterbalanced by the one you couldn't find.OK, it is about family, but there's always that "for better or worse" caveat, especially as you consider the branch from your tree that will be encamped in the spare bedroom through Jan. 2.At its truest, untinseled core, what this day is really about, as Martin will tell you without words, is caring, compassion and simply doing for others while expecting absolutely nothing in return. At its best, it could be said that friendship is what Christmas is really about.Just ask Dolores Starkey. At 81, her memory isn't what it used to be, but she remembers Martin from back in the day at Rock Forge, when neighbors did for neighbors.Especially Martin, who was always helping out with a smile, fixing this and fixing that, and running errands into town behind the wheel of his prized possession, a 1939 Chevy Coupe."He did so much for my parents, Links of London J Charm everybody, really," said Starkey, who makes weekly visits to see her friend. "None of us had any money, and Bob watched out for all of us.""I don't know about that," Martin said.
